Beer on the Road to Shingo, Not in the Village
Shingo Village does not have a brewery. Two real producers sit on the approaches: Kaneku Jozo in Hachinohe, and Oirase Brewery in Towada.
Shingo does not pour its own beer. The village's public pages list a tomb, a museum, a festival, a community bus, and an empty-house bank. They do not list a brewery. Anyone selling a "Shingo pilgrimage beer route," with house names and a brewer's quotation attached, is writing fiction. The beer that actually exists is on the roads that lead toward the village: Hachinohe to the east, and the Towada–Oirase country to the west.
Kaneku Jozo, Hachinohe
株式会社カネク醸造 brews in Nango, Hachinohe, at 青森県八戸市南郷大字市野沢字屋敷添14-2. The phone number on the site is 0178-38-5474. The same page says brewery tours are suspended while production is up, and asks visitors to use the inquiry form instead of arriving for a look around. That is the fact a traveler can use. A lineup, a founding year, and a taproom story are not on that page, so this article does not invent them.
Hachinohe is the railhead for Shingo. The village access map puts the drive from Hachinohe to the village office at 36 kilometers, about an hour, and the drive from the office to the Tomb of Christ at 3 kilometers, about five minutes. A stop in Nango is a stop on the approach. It is not a stop in the village.
Oirase Brewery, Towada
奥入瀬ビール is brewed by 株式会社A-WORLD at 青森県十和田市奥瀬堰道39-1, beside the country of Hakkoda, Lake Towada, and the Oirase stream. The brewery says every beer uses Hakkoda spring water that surfaces near the Oirase, which they call 奥入瀬の源流水. The head brewer studied in the Czech Republic. The brewery started in 1997.
The same page describes the range in style, not as a Shingo souvenir list: a golden Pilsen-type beer, a black Bavarian lager, an amber Vienna-type beer, a Bavarian wheat beer, a Kölsch-style beer made with the Aomori rice 青天の霹靂, a 3 percent apple sparkling drink classed as happoshu, and a heavily hopped beer made with American hops. Those are the brewery's own descriptions.
Hours on that page: the restaurant is open 11:00–16:00, last order 15:30, closed Wednesday, phone 0176-27-1317. The brewery counter is open 9:00–17:00, closed Saturday and Sunday, phone 0176-51-3151. Read the page again before you go. Hours change, and a Wednesday closure is the sort of fact that ruins a plan.
The village access map puts Towada City 27 kilometers from the Shingo office, about forty minutes. Oirase is farther up that road than the city center. It is a real detour with a real address. It is still not Shingo.
What this article will not do
It will not name a brewery inside Sannohe District, because none was verified. It will not attach a person's words to a kettle they do not stand next to. A sake house in the next prefecture does not become an Aomori beer maker by being written into the wrong paragraph. The drink, if you want one, is in Hachinohe or on the Oirase road. The tomb is a separate stop, and the village already publishes how to reach it.
